EDS and Mubadala Joint Venture Signs Contract with The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority

Injazat Data Systems, the joint venture of Mubadala Development Company and EDS, announced it has been awarded a 10-year Information Technology (IT) outsourcing contract with the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), valued in excess of $110 million (AED 375 million).

Under this agreement, the largest full service IT outsourcing deal to date in the region, Injazat, will assume full responsibility for all of the IT requirements of the ADWEA group of companies. Injazat will provide ADWEA with a fully integrated IT managed service, comprising IT infrastructure management, application management and new project management and delivery.

“Our agreement will accelerate and reinforce the prominent business and IT leadership of ADWEA,” said Mr. Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh, Injazat Data Systems’ Chairman. “By harnessing EDS’ worldwide experience of IT best practice, Injazat is committed to supporting ADWEA’s efforts to streamline its business operations as well as to deliver leading edge information technology innovations.”

ADWEA and Injazat teams have been working collaboratively to shape the service delivery model and prepare for the transfer of more than 150 ADWEA Group IT staff to Injazat.

“Injazat will continue to work with the authority’s existing IT product and services suppliers, exploring ways to harness local experience and apply global industry best practice,” said ADWEA's Board Chairman, Sheikh Diab bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

It is wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi government. ADWEA is managed by a board of management chaired by H. H. Sheikh Diab Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

ADWEA determines all business relating to the formulation, development and implementation of the policy of the government in relation of the water and electricity sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including all matters relating to the privatization of the water and electricity sector.
