AT&T Wins Security Contract from Lorillard

06:45:01 - 18 January 2006

CHICAGO, Jan. 18, 2006 – AT&T Inc. announced today it has won a three-year contract for networking security services from Lorillard Tobacco Co., the oldest and third largest tobacco company in the United States. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

AT&T will provide a network-based e-mail security and message management solution that enables Lorillard to ensure the integrity of electronic messaging before it enters the corporate network. The service offers a frontline defense against e-mail viruses, worms and spam that can threaten corporate assets and workforce productivity.

The AT&T solution incorporates spam filtering, virus blocking, content management, e-mail policy enforcement, message archiving and disaster recovery for both inbound and outbound messages, all delivered through a global network of data centers for redundancy and load balancing to maximize bandwidth and ensure always-available electronic messaging, storage and monitoring capabilities.

Additionally, the AT&T solution provides an extra level of security with its Transport Layer Security (TLS), an emerging encryption technology standard that ensures server-to-server privacy over the Internet. Through an array of online tools, Lorillard can easily manage inbound and outbound messages in real time via a single point of access.

“E-mail has become such a vital tool for sharing key and confidential information internally and with vendors for our company,” said Raymond Tatonetti, IT Vice President of Lorillard Tobacco Co. “We are pleased to be working with AT&T on a reliable, scalable and economical solution that provides unsurpassed security for our electronic messaging needs.”
