GeoTrust Launches New Enterprise SSL Certificate Program

11:28:43 - 17 January 2006

GeoTrust, Inc. (www.geotrus.com), a provider in identity verification solutions for e-business and a leading issuer of digital certificates for web security, today announced a new solution for organizations that deploy multiple SSL server certificates to ensure network security.

ESSL Premium provides organizations with enhanced certificate management capabilities and nextgeneration ubiquity to support the increasing number of mobile, handheld and entertainment devices that require secure connections to enterprise servers. The new product and service complements GeoTrust’s broad line of SSL certificate solutions, which are deployed by more than 100,000 customers worldwide.

The market for SSL certificates continues to expand, driven by the desire of an increasing number of corporations to open their networks to customers and partners using applications such as secure portals. These companies are choosing easy-to-implement SSL certificates to control access to sensitive data, documents and applications. In 2005, GeoTrust issued more SSL certificates than any other certificate authority in the world, according to data published by internet market research firm Netcraft (www.netcraft.com).

“GeoTrust has grown to become the second largest certificate authority in a short time by offering products that are more easily deployed and managed than those of our competitors,” said Joan Lockhart, vice president, marketing at GeoTrust. “The introduction of ESSL Premium furthers our commitment to providing the best products and value to our customers. Its support for a broad range of wireless and next-generation devices is important to any customer with a global reach.”

According to market research firm In-Stat/MDR, the global wireless market is expected to grow to more than 2 billion users by 2007, adding an average of 186 million new subscribers each year. In the U.S. alone, the Cellular telecommunications & Internet Association counts nearly 180 million wireless subscribers today. This growth is driving demand for products and services which can be used to ensure that end users are able to securely access Web-based applications from numerous
types of mobile devices.”
