New Home for Web Design Library

Brooklyn, N.Y., November 09, 2005 - Web Design Library (WDL), an educational portal with a focus on web design, has moved to a new domain and is now available on www.webdesign.org. The domain name was not the only change, though. The whole list of changes ranges from new design and a new back office system to a new domain name, new hosting, and beyond.

Web Design Library has become a really huge project containing more than 4,000 materials and adding about 10-15 new materials daily on every aspect of web design, web programming, SEO and other topics relevant to web design and web development. Its growth, represented in part by the number of materials available, has necessitated an evolution in the technologies used to support the project. That’s the main reason why Web Design Library has moved to a new hosting and domain name.

At the same time, Web Design Library has changed its look as well. The new design was developed using CSS technology so that pages would load quickly and efficiently. Besides, CSS technology allowed optimizing the website for any screen resolution (the previous version was optimized for 800x600 screen resolution only).

A custom script which was developed especially to represent the materials, subcategories and categories was changed in order to work faster and provide a comfortable way for working with the website. Now the requests are processed faster, search has become more flexible and newsletters now can be customized to your specific needs.

”When developing WDL version 2.0, we used our readers’ demands as guidelines. We are in intimate contact with them, which keeps us well informed of all the advantages and disadvantages of our projects,” said Max Lensky, CEO of Web Design Library. “With the new version of WDL, we took into consideration all the requests of our readers, including saving the features that readers’ liked from the original version, or enhancing them only slightly.”

The WDL team still has lots of ideas to be implemented in the future, so the current version of our project is not the final one. We are to see new versions that will also be in accordance with the constantly changing environment of the World Wide Web.
