TELUS Picks Avokia to Support its Managed Services Soluions

16:21:37 - 29 September 2005

Avokia (www.avokia.com), a software solutions provider based in Toronto, Ontario, today announced that it has partnered with TELUS (www.TELUS.com) to significantly enhance its managed services offerings, making Avokia’s “always fast, always on” capabilities available to business applications that TELUS hosts for its clients.

“For companies that rely on their business applications to handle enormous numbers of transactions, downtime of even a few seconds for upgrades or maintenance can cost a fortune,” said Alan McMillan, Avokia president and CEO.

Avokia software enables its customers to create a virtualized group of multiple, identical up-to-the-millisecond replicas of their databases, across virtually any distance. That means that its customers’ applications will always be on despite planned or unplanned outages even in the event of a disaster because they always have another database already running.

“Our customers rely on us for a wide range of services, from simple hosting of their business applications to application design, development, management and hosting,” said Tony Geheran, VP IT Infrastructure Operations & IT Solutions Marketing of TELUS.

TELUS is the largest telecommunications company in Western Canada and the second largest in the country, with $7.9 billion of annual revenue, 4.7 million network access lines and 4.1 million wireless customers.

Avokia, a venture backed software company headquartered in Toronto, Canada, provides solutions that ensure business applications are Always Fast and Always On. Its products are designed for high volume enterprise applications where speed is critical and downtime is not an option.
