Andrew S. Campbell,
CEO of BrickHost

Please provide us a brief history of your company?
In June 2003, CamWeb Enterprises moved into solely offering web hosting and offsite data backup services, and emerged as the re-branded BrickHost. Andrew Campbell, company CEO, has over 7 years experience in the IT industry, ranging from web design & developing to web marketing and business development. Company COO, Bryan Lokstet has an extensive background in multimedia design and business image building. Both company officers bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the company. BrickHost offers high quality hosting services from the NAC data centre, backed by the corporate server farm in NW Ontario.

Why should a site owner choose BrickHost over another hosting company?
According the Bryan Lokstet, COO, BrickHost's strength lies in our commitment to clients and providing an unparalleled level of support. Andrew Campbell was quick to contribute that the BrickHost support chat client, support ticket system and emergency SMS pager system provide the company with the tools to offer their clients an unrivalled hosting experience. Both agree that by focusing on quality support, servers and building a solid network infrastructure, clients can't help but be satisfied and lifelong customers.

Why is a good Web hosting service important to businesses and website owners?
"With a background in web design and development, I understand the importance of quality web hosting. BrickHost allows designers and developers to concentrate on design and development. By fully supporting the client, we are able to allow them to do their best work, and be proud and confident of their end result" according to Bryan Lokstet, COO.

How do you define your target markets?
BrickHost presently hosts websites for clients in over 35 countries. However, the primary market for the firm is small and medium sized businesses in North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia.

According to Bryan Lokstet, COO, "the majority of our clients are businesses who either can't afford, or don't want the hassle of running a company web server. BrickHost is affordable and provides better quality hosting than most companies could achieve without a significant investment."

What is your company's core focus?
BrickHost offers shared and reseller hosting. Clients can choose from standard or custom hosting packages. BrickHost also offers offsite data backup services, which include a proprietary BrickHost backup client. The Backup client completely automates the backup process and is a far better alternative to traditional tape backup media.

What makes BrickHost different from other web hosting companies?
BrickHost offers the best of both worlds. The company doesn't have 1,000,000 clients, where smaller clients tend to get lost in the shuffle, but the firm does have the same level of highly trained staff, and same quality servers. BrickHost also isn't a bargain basement host whose servers are located in an 18 year olds basement. With years of industry and business experience BrickHost is able to provide clients with the best possible hosting experience.

Describe what BrickHost is doing to anticipate the next year of web hosting industry events?
Andrew Campbell at BrickHost was quick to respond "by concentrating on the basics of our business, we position ourselves to handle the next year of Internet growth. Continuing staff education, upgrading servers regularly and improving network connections frequently, is basic business sense and positions BrickHost to be a leader in years to come."

How different is the hosting and/or domain registration market today from what it was 2 years ago? Where will the hosting and/or domain registration market be in 10 years?
Two years ago the hosting and domain name registration was dominated primarily by large corporations, who offered limited and expensive hosting packages. Domain name registration was made to be complicated and costly, not to mention the feverish rush for domains, and all of the domain auction and trading sites.

In ten years, the hosting industry will have had time to mature. The current race to the bottom, in terms of pricing, will have ended. Consumers will realize the importance of quality hardware and support, and will begin migrating away from bargain basement hosts, to those which provide a far better value for their dollar. You do get what you pay for, and unfortunately some hosting clients learn that the hard way.

What advice would you give to anyone starting his or her own webhosting company?
Write a business plan. A thorough business plan will allow the company to handle any problems or issues quickly and easily. There is nothing worse than needing to expand and having no strategy for growth, Our business plan was written and revised in a little under 5 months, and has since proven itself time and time again as a worthwhile investment of our time,

What additional services or solutions does BrickHost deliver?
BrickHost only offers web hosting and offsite data backup services. One of our strengths if our commitment and focus on providing solely hosting services. Would you want to buy a car where you shop for carrots?

And finally, what was the recent book you have read?
I have just finished Upward Bound, which proved to be a very helpful collection of essays. I found the book to have greatly helped me with the new HR issues the company faces as we expand.
