The Implementation Of Cloud Computing Technology

2013-04-30by LucAaron

Cloud computing is everywhere: from the apps in your cell phone to the email you access via the web! It seems like cloud technologies are becoming the default platform on which many new software applications are being developed and marketed.

It's no surprise then that business everywhere are considering how the implementation of cloud computing can assist in their operations.

After all, the benefits of cloud computing are pretty clear.

For one thing, cloud technologies provide an amazing accessibility to data and files. All you need is an internet connection! Hosting files in this way allows employees to download, edit and store information in a way that has never before been seen. Now, no matter where you are in the world, that data can be accessed via any device that can get online! (Think of the increased productivity for businesses...)

This is upending the traditional model of brick and mortar offices and changing what it means to "be at work". After all, why travel into an office building when you can accomplish the same tasks from a park, coffee shop or home? So you can see, cloud computing implementation is affecting more than just business operations-- it's affecting our way of life.

Many people would say these affects are changing things for the better. New developments are ushering in a world our ancestors could never have imagined.

While the implementation of cloud computing has many benefits, it's also raising some concern.

One of these concerns relates to a lack in regulation. Cloud services are a relatively new industry and there hasn't been the time to develop guidelines and rules for cloud service providers.

Many providers ARE keen to this concern. Many will guarantee a certain level of service, but it is up to to the consumer to pay close attention to their service level agreements, as there may not be much help available beyond it.

In a new sector such as this, navigating the benefits and the risks can be daunting- both for businesses and individuals.

Another related concern in regards to cloud computing implementation is security. Many find the idea of storing personal or businesses data on an off-site server to be somewhat disconcerting. This lack of direct control has turned some people off from the idea.

One thing is clear, however, as we move forward, the trend of cloud computing implementation will continue to increase-- whether we are ready for it or not!
