Create Your Own Cloud Server Or Online Data Storage

There are several services online such as Mozy, DropBox, SugarSync, and many more that are constantly inviting us to try the cloud services. The benefit of using these cloud services is that it allows you to store files online and you could have access to these files from anywhere all your need is internet connection. Moreover, you don't have to upgrade your hardware or take care of your files, all of this is the headache of the cloud services. All these offers may sound interesting, but have you considered having a cloud service of your own? It may sound impossible, but it is easy to establish and all it requires is an internet connection, computer, and free software.

One of the biggest advantages of converting your system into a cloud server is you can store only as per the limits of the hard disk, and not as per the limits of your bank balance. Now, to start with creating your cloud server, you will need to use one of the free software such as Oxygen cloud, Tonido, or OwnCloud.

How to create your cloud server

1. Browse to any one of the earlier mentioned program. We are going to use tonido.com. On the Home page of Tonido, click on the downloads link. The software that you will have to select for creating your own cloud server is Tonido Desktop Software. This software will come along with two versions, out of which the portable version will not require installing.

2. Now, you will have to open the zip file and drag the folder and drop it on your desktop. Whenever you want to run the program, double click on Tonido. The first time when you click, the Firewall alert will appear, click on the Allow Access button.

3. Sign-up for the Tonido account. Choose your Account Name wisely as this becomes your URL for the cloud server.

4. Once your account is created, Tonido will continue to run in the background without affecting your system.

5. Log-in on your system, which has now turned into cloud server, from any device or system that consists of a web browser. Enter your personal URL - which was created during registration, and click Login.

6. A screen will be displayed, which gives you the complete access for the external as well as internal drives. You get a Download and Upload button for accessing or storing your important files.
With these simple steps you can create your own cloud server. You can also use the same software for mobile devices as well.
