Emmy Awards Picks Sprint for Official Communications Service Provider

00:00:00 - 17 September 2004

September 17, 2004 - (HostReview.com) - Sprint (www.sprint.com) today announced it has entered into an agreement to become the official communications service provider to the Academy of Television Arts & Science's 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. This year's Emmy Awards will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 19, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.

"Every year, the Emmy Awards honor the best television has to offer," said Mike Goff, vice president - Corporate Brand Management, Sprint. "This venue provides an excellent opportunity to further strengthen the Sprint brand, allowing us to reach a new audience and promote the latest Sprint products and services - including those that are, in fact, television-focused, such as the new Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Services."

Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Services delivers streaming audio and video content from familiar sources such as CNN, NBC Universal, FOX Sports, The Weather Channel, E! Entertainment, mFlix, Twentieth Century Fox, AccuWeather and 1KTV to select Sprint PCS Vision Phones.

As part of the Emmy Awards agreement, Sprint will serve as official co-host of the Primetime Emmy Awards Press Tent, where Sprint representatives will be able to demonstrate the latest features of Sprint PCS Vision Phones to winners, presenters and the media.

Additionally, each Emmy Awards presenter's gift bag will include the Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Phone MM-A700 by Samsung, the perfect wireless product for Hollywood insiders.

As part of the agreement, Sprint will also co-host the Annual Performer Nominee's Reception on Friday, Sept. 17, at Spago in West Hollywood. In addition, Sprint will serve as the co-honoree of the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Governor's Ball, immediately after the Emmy Awards.

Since not everyone can go to the Emmy Awards in person, Sprint is bringing the fun directly to Sprint PCS Vision customers with a new suite of Emmy Awards-related wireless content.

Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Service customers who subscribe to E! Entertainment's premium content channel will be able to view clips from "E!'s Live from the Red Carpet" coverage on Monday morning.

Sprint is a global integrated communications provider serving more than 26 million customers in over 100 countries. With more than $26 billion in annual revenues in 2003, Sprint is widely recognized for developing, engineering and deploying state-of-the-art network technologies, including the United States' first nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network and an award-winning Tier 1 Internet backbone.
