05:24:01 - 18 October 2018

Docker Enterprise receives a differentiated rating, the highest possible score, in eight criteria including image management, runtime and orchestration, operations management, security features, user experience, vision and more

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Docker today announced that it has been named a Leader in The Forrester New Wave™: Enterprise Container Platform Software Suites, Q4 2018 evaluation. The report recognizes Docker Enterprise as a Leader by achieving a differentiated rating, the highest possible score, in eight criteria including runtime and orchestration, image and operations management, security, vision and more.

According to Forrester, Docker: “Leads the pack with a robust container platform well-suited for the enterprise...Is popular for modernizing both traditional and microservices applications,” and “offers a secure container supply chain from the developer’s desktop to production.”

Customers interviewed for the report highlight Docker’s approach to end-to-end image security, support for Windows and support expertise, also stating that “Docker Enterprise makes working with containers easy," and that the "platform's stability got us to where we are today."

Docker Enterprise enables organizations to choose how to cost-effectively build and manage their entire application portfolio at their own pace and with the freedom to deploy these applications across any infrastructure. With the Docker container platform, enterprises can easily bridge existing and new applications under a uniform and agile operating model with end-to-end integrated security.

The report evaluated eight vendors across three categories: current offering, strategy and market presence. In assessing where Docker stands in relation to the vendors evaluated, Forrester rated Docker Enterprise as being “Differentiated” - the highest possible score - in the following criteria:

  • Runtime and orchestration
  • Image management
  • Operations management
  • Security features
  • User experience
  • Integrations and APIs
  • Vision
  • Market approach

“We believe Forrester’s independent assessment demonstrates the value and differentiation of the Docker Enterprise container platform in delivering choice, security and agility to organizations,” said Banjot Chanana, VP of product at Docker. “Companies understand that to maintain a competitive advantage, they need a container platform that allows them to manage and secure their entire application portfolio in a uniform fashion - whether existing mission-critical applications or new microservices, based on Windows or Linux, deployed on premises or in the cloud. In our opinion, this recognition is a testament to the dedicated and innovative work being done at Docker to meet the needs of companies that are looking to urgently drive digital transformation initiatives and move to the cloud without leaving their existing investments in applications and infrastructure behind.”

More than 650 of the world’s largest companies - including ADP, GE, Société Générale and Visa - rely on Docker Enterprise to build, manage and secure their applications without fear of vendor lock in. Docker Enterprise enables organizations to reduce IT spend, while also leveraging the same platform to modernize their legacy applications, optimize infrastructure and embark on the path for creating next generation microservices.
