Iomart Group Plc Strengthens Cloud Backup As A Service With EMC(R) Avamar(R)

iomart Group plc (AIM:IOM), is provisioning the EMC® Avamar® deduplication backup software and system to strengthen its cloud-based backup-as-a-service offering for enterprise and SME customers across its main hosting brands. This includes services provided to customers through iomart Hosting and RapidSwitch, as well as the Group’s cloud services channel brand Westcoastcloud.

The UK managed hosting and cloud services provider, is using Avamar to underpin its enterprise-class managed backup solution to customers both on-site and off-site, backed by award-winning SLAs. iomart Group is offering Avamar as part of its channel proposition to increase availability of the enterprise-grade back-up solution and the variety of software support.

The benefits to iomart Group customers from the Avamar-powered service include responsive and secure enterprise-grade data backup and recovery, as well as a streamlined user-experience that is delivered via a unique web-based interface. Customers are able to backup significant amounts of data online without having to make a capital investment to do so – and the process is quick: data is deduplicated and only the unique daily changes are stored, which reduces bandwidth requirements. In the event of data recovery, Avamar features a one-step process through which entire backups or individual files or directories can be accessed immediately.

Data integrity and security were paramount considerations in iomart’s selection process. After evaluating a number of solutions, iomart chose Avamar because it offered the organisation the most cost-effective and resilient backup solution with simplified management for iomart Group employees and customers.
