DreamHost Receives $288K Grant From California's Employment Training Panel

03:49:26 - 16 July 2012

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire) – DreamHost, a global full-service web hosting company, has today announced the reception of a grant of $288,200 from the state of California’s Employment Training Panel (ETP) for being a wonderful place to work with an ethic of ongoing education and a commitment to employee growth. DreamHost is the first web hosting company within California’s tech sector to take advantage of the grant throughout the program’s history.

The Employment Training Panel was created by the state of California to provide businesses that actively contribute to the state’s economy with resources to train, retain, and entertain their workforces. DreamHost will use the funds provided by the grant to provide extensive training to its nearly 200 employees, license training software, and obtain executive leadership training for its management team.

“I work with a bunch of morons,” sighed DreamHost’s VP of Human Resources and serial degree-earner Art Elizarov. “I feel like they’ve all got the capability to be highly-skilled, dynamic leaders, but their lack of education is holding them back. This grant money means the world to me because it means they can no longer rely on their claims of financial inequity to excuse their professional ineptitude.” Added Art, “Finally.”

The Employment Training Panel will reimburse DreamHost for every dollar spent on training existing employees. Funding will be available to DreamHost for two years from the original grant date, after which point any remainder will be returned to the ETP pool and reallocated.

“This kind of grant makes a huge difference in our ability to be a leader in training our teams in the hosting industry. I know how much effort was put in to get this across the line, and I’m grateful to the state of California for providing a program designed to foster a highly skilled workforce,” said DreamHost CEO Simon Anderson. “DreamHost and the local economy will both prosper as a result of this grant.”
