AT&T Launches Solution To Stop Viruses

AT&T (www.att.com) announced technology that can protect businesses from network-based worms and viruses without deploying firewalls at each location.

New features added to AT&T's revolutionary Internet Protect service can help stop network-based worms and viruses in their early stages before they infect and wreak havoc on corporate and government networks.

"Once again, we are leading the industry by making early detection, intrusion prevention and cyber-attack mitigation available in the network, turning the network itself into a front-line security device," said Kathleen Flaherty, chief marketing officer.

The new capabilities, which AT&T plans to add early next year, integrate worm and virus mitigation into AT&T's network-based firewall, offering protection without the need to deploy firewalls at each company location.

By deploying early identification and mitigation capabilities for cyber-attacks within its global Internet protocol (IP) network, AT&T can help prevent these attacks from proliferating and infiltrating a customer's information technology infrastructure--networks, servers, PCs, applications and end-user devices.
