IP Communications Selects MegaPath Networks as the Preferred Destination For Its Entire Retail Customer Base

00:00:00 - 14 January 2003

PLEASANTON, Calif., Jan 14, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- MegaPath Networks Inc. -- one of the nation's leading providers of broadband services for small- to medium- sized businesses and large distributed enterprise customers -- today announced that IP Communications has selected MegaPath Networks as the preferred destination for its retail T1, DSL and VPN customers. IP Communications is notifying customers that MegaPath Networks is IP Communications' recommended replacement provider for their continued broadband connection, now that IP Communications has been forced to file with the FCC for discontinuation of its services.

"We want to provide a seamless, non-disruptive transition to our loyal customer base," said Steve Nowick, CEO of IP Communications. "We selected MegaPath as the preferred destination for our retail customer base because of their comparable array of broadband data networking solutions, extensive broadband service availability in our region and their reputation for outstanding customer support."

IP Communications' business customers in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas will begin receiving letters explaining details of the Broadband Rescue Program offered by MegaPath Networks, with support from IP Communications. Former IP Communications customers who contract for replacement service with MegaPath will receive free broadband installation and equipment (upon redemption of mail-in rebates on contract terms of 2 or more years). To minimize down-time or disruption of service during the transition, this offer includes free dial-up service that gives broadband customers basic access functionality during the transition.

"MegaPath is ideally positioned to accommodate IP Communications' customers because of our redundant coverage in the region. Through partnerships with Southwestern Bell, Verizon/GTE, Covad Communications, Allegiance Telecommunications and New Edge Networks, we can offer the vast majority of IP Communications' customers comparable or better business-class broadband service," said Dan Foster, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, MegaPath Networks. "Tens of thousands of businesses entrust their broadband services to MegaPath because we're financially stable and we partner with a network of reliable access suppliers."

MegaPath Networks business broadband access solutions are designed to meet the needs of a broad array of connectivity needs.
