Top 10 Powerful Tools to Monitor Your Website's Uptime & Performance For Free

2010-08-09by Simone Collins

It’s crucial for a website to experience minimal downtime (and for site owner to monitor the uptime). The truth is that every website goes down every now and then.  However, if your site undergoes outages too often, you will lose a lot of visitors. Slow access can be quite frustrating for your users as well.  It is the poor performance of your website that could ruin your online business. That is why you should ensure high uptime and better user experience.

Sometimes it happens that websites are going down even if you have a very reliable hosting with 99% of uptime or more. The reasons could be a lot: problems with data center, network outages, server outages, server overload, DNS configuration, or SSL certificate problems. Regardless of the reason, the problem has to be solved as soon as possible.

Apparently, you can’t keep an eye on your computer screen and check whether your site is up or down all the time in order to react quickly. Luckily, there are some free web services which can help you monitor your website performance. I've put together a great collection of 10 free tools that will let you know every time when your site is down.
