Mere "Reseller" is Gone, "Web Services Reseller" is IN

"Reseller" V/S "Web Services Reseller"

The term Web Services simply states Web Based Software Application Services; reseller is a middle-man who sells web services on someone else’s server. Reselling schemes vary widely. They fall into the following categories of Resellers:

Reseller acts as an Affiliate:
People buy services directly from the web service company but the reseller gets a cut if customer is routed through his website or mention his name while placing an order. The service is advertised by the reseller on his website via Banner, Text Links and word of mouth.

Reseller acts as a Marketer:
People buy the services from the reseller but all further contact they have is direct with the web service company. The service is advertised by the reseller as being with the actual web service company.

Reseller acts as a Web Services Company:
A customer buys web services from the reseller who buys web services (at a lower price) from the actual web service company. Customers contact the reseller for support. The reseller appears to be a web service company in his own right, handling sales and support but ‘rebadged’ somebody else’s service.
A variant on this scheme is that customers are invoiced by the web services company in the reseller’s name and the reseller gets a cut. Support will usually be via the reseller in order to keep up the pretence that the reseller is a web service company in his own right.

Bulk Web Services Reseller:
The reseller purchases a large chunk of web services and bandwidth from the web services company and can then carve that into individual chunks of space/bandwidth for sale to customers. Customers contact the reseller for support.
