Cloud Management: How Can Entrepreneurs Become More IT-Savvy?

2017-03-21by Rachelle Wilber

Being an entrepreneur means that you have a lot on your plate. If you are not already tech-savvy, you will need to be. Today's most successful businesses rely heavily on digital marketing, social media and e-commerce. These tips will help you form strategies to get more comfortable with today's high-tech world.

Following Technology Blogs

Following technology blogs is a simple way to add to your scope of knowledge about technology. Choose a few individuals and company blogs to follow. You can subscribe to their feeds and read their posts when it is convenient to you. Consider following those same people or companies on social media and interacting with them. You may find that those tech-savvy individuals and tech firms post content that is informative and helpful to your business.

Listening to Technology Talks

There are many free and low-cost online and digital resources that you can use in order to become more IT-savvy. Visit YouTube and explore some of the free talks and resources offered by well-known experts. Visit the TedEd website and watch their free lectures. These resources can be accessed from any Wi-Fi-enabled device and at any time that is suitable to your busy schedule.

Earning a Master's Degree in Management

This can be a great way to learn more about the business world and how to effectively manage. Earning a master's degree in management affords you the opportunity to develop up-to-date tech skills. In your degree program, you will learn a wide variety of digital skills, such as analyzing data and building your own apps. A master's degree in management will also serve you well as your business grows and adds staff.

Participating in Training Seminars

If you are not yet ready for a master's degree program in management, consider taking training seminars that are related to technology. If you live in a large city, your local community college or university may offer these seminars for free or at a nominal cost. You could also enroll in a non-credit vocational training program related to technology. If you have a friend who is tech-savvy, pay that person to be your tutor or trade that person for your products or services.

Becoming more familiar with technology will require a regular investment of your time. Consider this investment to be a way of building the resources of your business. When you are comfortable and familiar with technology such as website design, smartphone apps, digital marketing, and other information technology issues, you will be able to put your skills and knowledge to use to help your business thrive.
