For 2014, I predicted cloud market consolidation and recalibration; disaster recovery becoming the new normal for businesses instead of an afterthought; and the need for a major “bang” for vCloud (vCHS at the time) providers, possibly by taking on a large public application – and I wasn’t too far off.

Migrating your application isn’t something that you decide to do on a whim one day.  A successful migration requires a careful plan, expertly thought-through and prepared.  This checklist isn’t meant to serve as your diagram for migration, but rather it’s meant to help guide your plan before it’s crafted and also to service as a final pre-launch list to make sure you have haven’t forgotten anything before takeoff. 

Ensuring your cloud budget is aligned with cloud spend is a common concern for new cloud adopters. Unfortunately, some new users have heard horror stories about runaway cloud costs leading to overspending. These horror stories are not the typical story, however, and they are easily mitigated in advance with proper planning and management.
