The Planet to Host Texas IPv6 Conference

11:05:06 - 13 October 2009

HOUSTON, Oct. 13, 2009 – The Planet, the global leader in IT hosting, today announced plans to host the Texas IPv6 Task Force. Scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 3-4, at its headquarters in downtown Houston, more than 100 participants are expected for the free two-day event. Gold Sponsors include ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers), Global Crossing and NTT America.

The Texas IPv6 Task Force (TXv6TF) is a sub-chapter of the IPv6 Forum, which is dedicated to the advancement and propagation of the IPv6 Internet Protocol in Texas and its surrounding states. Comprised of individual members rather than corporate sponsors, the TXv6TF mission is to provide technical leadership and innovative thought for the successful integration of IPv6 into all facets of networking and telecommunications infrastructure.

With the transition to IPv6 already begun, the event provides a learning forum for participants as they prepare for the emerging technology trends and learn how IPv6 will transform communications over the next 20 years.

“With the ubiquitous nature of the Internet and growing demands from every corner of the world, there is a reasonable concern among companies about their ability to gain access to IP addresses to support their growing businesses,” said Stan Barber, vice president of Network Operations with The Planet and a Director of TXv6TF. “The transition to the new protocol is inevitable, so individuals in the IT arena are faced with the impending challenge of how best to help their companies escalate their adoption plans. Long-term sustainability clearly drives the work of this task force, and the event is designed to arm members and participants with trends from industry leaders.”

Speakers for the event include Barber; Latif Ladid with the IPv6 Forum; Charlie E. Perkins, author of “Ad Hoc Networking”; Mike Benjamin with Global Crossing; Cody Christman from NTT America; and Stephen Lagerholm with Secure 64, who also serves as a director of TXv6TF.

Companies and individuals from Texas, its surrounding states and from around the world are invited to participate.  To register for the event and to learn more, visit the Web site at http://www.txv6tf.org/.  The Web site is hosted on The Planet’s IT infrastructure and is available via IPv6 and IPv4.
