NetBenefit Launches new Ultra-V virtualisation platform

NetBenefit offers high availablity, flexibility, scalability and resilience

September 16, 2009; 05:05 AM

NetBenefit, one of the most experienced managed hosting providers in the UK, today announces the launch of its high availability virtualisation platform Ultra-V. Based on Release 2 of Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008, the platform follows the success of NetBenefit’s Hyper-V based virtual private servers (VPS) released earlier this year.

Designed to take advantage of the performance and virtualisation capabilities of the latest Dell blade servers and Intel’s Nehalem microarchitecture, Ultra-V offers a cost effective virtualisation platform that provides flexibility, scalability and resilience.  The Ultra-V platform also sits behind a powerful firewall security layer providing complete peace of mind for all customers whether they require a single virtual private server or complete virtualisation solution.

Ultra-V delivers a high availability virtualisation platform whilst maintaining the customisation and scalability usually associated with dedicated servers.  The Ultra-V platform provides the ability to quickly increase the RAM or CPU specification of each virtual private server. Likewise routine maintenance activities such as patching can be carried out to the host servers without customers experiencing downtime.

Colin Bell, managing director, NetBenefit, comments: “Many of our customers recognise the benefits that virtualisation offers in terms of flexibility, speed of deployment and competitive pricing.  The Ultra-V platform offers all of this with impressive failover capabilities, scalability and performance backed up by the excellent 24x7 technical support and experienced account management that is at the centre of NetBenefit’s managed hosting service.

“NetBenefit’s strategic alliance with Microsoft has led to our senior engineers taking part in both the Hyper-V Early Adopter Programme and the Windows 2008 Technology Adoption Programme.  When it comes to virtualisation, we believe the Ultra-V platform really is the ultimate in scalable, flexible and secure managed hosting solutions.”
