Zip Innovator PKWare Chooses Comodo to Power its Next Generation SecureZip Solution with Digital, Certificate-Based Security Technology
June 12, 2008; 09:50 AM
Jersey City, NJ (June 12, 2008) - Comodo, one of the world's largest Certification Authorities (CA) and a global leader in Identity and Trust Assurance Management solutions, today announced that PKWARE, a leading data security software company, has chosen Comodo to provide integrated PKI security features with its recently launched SecureZIP 12.1 product. SecureZIP 12.1 can automatically request and install a Comodo digital certificate on a user's PC, allowing secure file and e-mail exchange. Comodo digital certificates are also used to digitally sign documents and e-mail messages, assuring recipients that they are authentic. Another outcome of the Comodo-PKWARE partnership was the development and deployment of the SecureZIP Global Directory - a depository of public keys for SecureZIP users. This directory facilitates the highly secure information exchange associated with digital certificates by allowing users to obtain the public key associated with an e-mail recipient's digital certificate. Comodo, one of the world's largest issuers of digital certificates also plans to give its digital certificate customers the option of participating in this directory later this year. Tim Kennedy, President and COO of PKWARE commented: "Our customers are demanding ever-higher levels of security without sacrificing ease of use. Comodo's core competence in PKI and skill in integration helped us deliver a world-class security product for both businesses and consumers." Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO and Chief Security Architect of Comodo added: "Our deep experience in PKI enables us to add the value of enhanced security and trust to a wide range of software, hardware, and services. As the world becomes increasingly Internet dependent, PKI and digital certificates are fast becoming an important part of every business and household. We are proud of the role we're playing to make the Internet safer and more trusted." To download a free version of SecureZIP for non-commercial use, visit www.securezip.com.
