SoftLayer to Test Every Server Prior to Launch

Dallas, TX – SoftLayer has announced a strategic relationship with PassMark® Software to offer BurnInTest™, the industry-leading hardware testing solution, at no-charge to customers.

BurnInTest evaluates the endurance, reliability and stability of all a server’s hardware components including its motherboard, CPU, RAM, drive controllers, network cards and more. SoftLayer will use it to test every server prior to its deployment. Customers will receive the results of the hardware certification process.

It helps avoid the costs and inconvenience of downtime and lost data.”

SoftLayer will also preload BurnInTest on every server to allow customers to run their own hardware tests at any time after deployment. Tests can be run from within the server’s operating system or through CLI for a bare metal test. “Customers can have confidence in their server’s integrity throughout its lifecycle, even after changes such as a configuration update or hardware upgrade,” said Mr. Fleitman.

SoftLayer’s contract with PassMark also allows the hosting provider to provide customers no-charge access to analysis software in addition to BurnInTest, including PassMark™ OSCheck™, PerformanceTest™ and DiskCheckup™ for Windows.
