August 20, 2007; 02:09 AM This summer SiteGround sponsored several remarkable initiatives meant
to promote Open Source projects: the TextPattern templates competition,
the BlogBackupOnline contest and the 2007 DrupalCon.
For a 2nd year SiteGround contributed the top prize at the TextPlates
competition for TextPattern templates held in July. The contest aims at
increasing the popularity of the TextPattern software and to ease the
creation of new TextPattern-based blogs by providing more free
templates. With the last year's contributions the number of the free
TextPattern themes available at textplates.com is over 60.
SiteGround is also proud to sponsor the BlogBackupOnline contest.
BlogBackupOnline provides free backup services for blog websites. The
contest initiative is to increase the awareness of the blog users about
the value of the back up creation through true-life stories. SiteGround
hosts more than 10,000 blogs on its servers and strongly supports the
idea of that regular back up creation is extremely important.
SiteGround would also sponsor this year DrupalCon
held in Barcelona. The conference will be the meeting point of many
Drupal developers and designers from all over the world. SiteGround has
been providing a special hosting pack for Drupal users since 2003. It
has also created many resources, including tutorials and themes, which
are publicly available for free use. The sponsorship of the conference
once again shows SiteGround's commitment to the Drupal community.
SiteGround web hosting has always been a strong supporter of Open
Source applications. It offers one of the richest collections of over
100 free themes and templates for the most popular CMS, blog, gallery
and forum tools; as well as over 30 tutorials for Open Source
applications and a Knowledge base with detailed explanations on more
complicated issues.
