SoftLayer Joins The Green Grid
June 11, 2007; 08:11 AM “SoftLayer has long focused on reducing the environmental impact of our own facilities,” said Sam Fleitman, Chief Operating Officer of SoftLayer. “We’ve accomplished a lot, from deploying systems with greater power efficiency to increasing our data centers’ density while minimizing their footprints. By joining The Green Grid, we’re expanding our scope beyond just optimizing our own operations to helping the industry set higher efficiency standards and develop better environmental practices.” The Green Grid is working through its members’ interactions to develop new and meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methodologies, processes and technologies that will improve the energy performance of data centers around the globe. Mr. Fleitman said that an organization like The Green Grid is essential for effectively addressing the technology industry’s growing environmental impact. “The world’s total demand for information technology services is going to keep getting larger. Now is the right time for the industry to get together and create solutions that will enable us to meet those needs while protecting our resources,” he said. “It will take all of us in the IT community and all of The Green Grid’s members working together to create solutions that will be powerful and lasting. SoftLayer is proud to be officially on board.” About SoftLayer Technologies Located in the INFOMART in Contact: Shawna Furr, 214.442.0584, press@softlayer.com
