SingleHop Powers Fight to Save the Internet with Freepress.net

February 21, 2007; 12:24 AM

Chicago, IL - Chicago-based managed dedicated server provider, SingleHop, Inc., is providing servers and complete dedicated managed hosting services to freepress.net to aid in their attempt to preserve “Net Neutrality.”  Their message is delivered through freepress.net and savetheinternet.com.

“This is probably one of the most critical times for the Internet and we are going to do everything that we can to insure that this important message is disseminated to as many people as possible,” says Zak Boca, president of SingleHop.

According to the Free Press website, www.freepress.net, “Congress is being pushed to abandon the First Amendment of the Internet – a principle called ‘net neutrality’ that preserves the free and open Internet.”  Free Press has posted an online petition to gather signatures that are sent to Congress to voice the opinions of those in opposition.  The site states that global public control of the Internet is being challenged by major communications companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast.

“We rely on strong supporters to make sure our message gets out there. Of all the managed hosting providers in the country, SingleHop stepped up to the plate and offered us robust and dependable hosting. They enable us to use the Internet to save the Internet,” says Ben Byrne, Creative and Technical Manager of Free Press.
