The Planet-EV1Servers Adds High-Performance Systems to Meet Customers’ Most Demanding Hosting Requirements

November 16, 2006; 12:21 AM

Providing customers with server choices to meet their most processing-intensive requirements, The Planet-EV1Servers today announced the addition of three high-performance servers to its world-class data center line-up. Just in time for the e-commerce holiday avalanche, the new servers provide advanced options for companies that anticipate increased traffic.  The servers are available in the company’s seven computing centers located in both Houston and Dallas.

The Dell PowerEdge 840 servers offer up to 66 percent increased performance from previous generations, making this server family especially ideal for running multiple applications, including file serving, e-mail and databases.  Through a selection of options, customers can configure servers to meet the needs of their developing businesses or extend the breadth of their growing operations.

“The holiday season requires customers to manage their hosting operations at absolute peak performance,” said Steve Kahan, vice president of marketing for The Planet-EV1Servers.  “Our new high-end server line-up provides capabilities required for high-intensity, database-driven Web sites where volume traffic loads require uninterrupted performance.  Most importantly, we provide our customers with a tremendous price/performance equation to meet their specific business requirements.”

About the New P3060 Server Family

With 64-bit support, the new P3060 series provides processing power based on Intel’s new Xeon 3060 Core™ 2 Duo processors with a choice of either Windows or Linux operating systems, including Red Hat, Debian and CentOS:

P3060D – Designed for customers who require power and efficiency, the P3060D provides 2GB DDRS RAM, along with a 250 GB SATA-II hard drive.  Equipped with the Intel Xeon 3060 dual-core processor, the P3060D offers 2.4 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB and 4 MB of shared cache. Priced at $199 per month, this server combines both performance and value.

P3060DS – For customers looking for even faster processing power, the P3060DS delivers increased computing performance.  Outfitted with the Intel Xeon 3060 dual-core processor, the P3060DS offers a 146 GB SAS hard drive that operates at speeds of 10K RPM.  Priced at $209 per month, this mid-range, high-performance server delivers enhanced data-driven processing.

P3060DR
– For customers running mission-critical applications that require high-performance processing, the P3060DR offers the top-line solution.  Equipped with four 250GB SATA-II hard drives in a RAID 10 configuration – and priced at $299 per month – the P3060DR offers top-of-the-line performance and failover protection.

Customers can select upgrades for all three servers with four or eight GB of DDR2-based memory.  Both the P3060D and P3060DS can be upgraded with up to four hard drives.
