Texas-based hosting provider WebFaction (http://www.webfaction.com) introduces a new kind of control panel.
Over are the days where one website was served by one application. More and more people mix and match the tools that they use for their various websites: the root of a website might be served by Ruby on Rails while the /blog URL might be served by WordPress; alternatively, multiple websites might be served from a single Ruby on Rails process, which reduces the ressource usage on the server.
The WebFaction control panel decouples the actual application from the domain(s)/URL(s) that it serves, which makes this mixing and matching process a breeze.
Also, the control panel comes with a one-click installer for all the major tools: Ruby on Rails, WordPress, Django, PHP, ... and has support for multiple versions of each tool.
A screencast demo of the control panel is available at http://blog.webfaction.com/control-panel-demo
