ColoSpace Announces Rockland Data Center Grand Opening

January 24, 2006; 11:58 AM

ColoSpace, Inc. (www.colospace.com) a provider of colocation and managed services announces the grand opening of their 5th New England Data Center located in Rockland, MA.

The Rockland facility will serve clients south of Boston as well as DR clients within Boston proper and Managed Hosting customers throughout the country.

The facility was the former home to the American Automotive Association (AAA) of New England, which is conveniently located off Route 3 at Exit 14. ColoSpace engineered and constructed a Data Center environment to meet today’s requirements.

ColoSpace has already leased 20% of the data center space, before the doors are even open. “Two years ago we began our survey process to determine if a need existed in this part of the state,” company CEO Wayne Sawchuk noted.

Key advantages to the Rockland Data Center is organizations now have the ability to purchase a blended bandwidth option within a secure facility and not have to fight the Boston traffic to satisfy their needs. This new facility utilizes previously installed “dark fiber” by the electric utility National Grid (NEESCom) and lit by high capacity communications provider OnFiber.

“An area ColoSpace will have as a competitive advantage is cooling and power,” Sawchuk outlined. “Data Centers built 5 years ago were designed for multiple 4-5U servers and now we’re seeing multiple 7U Blade Server holding 10 blades requiring expanded power and cooling. Our vision was to look at the market and quantify how many customers would be standardizing on Blade Servers and other smaller machines in the next 5 years. Taking this data into consideration and building a facility to meet future demands is where we see ColoSpace staying ahead of the competition.”

ColoSpace’s Rockland Data Center will offer the following: N+1 Engineering for data center operations, Higher HVAC for cooling, UPS Power with Backup Generator support preventing downtime due to Commercial outage, Complete Fire Suppression and Security Systems, Customized Cage, Cabinet and Suite Space built to customer specifications, Six Tier-1 bandwidth connectivity providers with a 100% uptime SLA, Completed Managed Services and Disaster Recovery Services, Customer Conference Room and Shared Working area.
