AIT Introduces Server Firewall Hardware

Too many businesses see security threats as something that happens to 'someone else', until they are impacted. AIT's firewall hardware is an extra layer between a company's server and the unknown that lurks on the Internet.

The AIT Server Firewall Solution:
Hardware defends against unwelcome intrusions
You need to get some work done and, like most people, depend on the Internet for at least part of the day.  So do a host of other folks, but their reasons are much different:

  • A hacker gets root access on a company’s web server and redirects client traffic to a mock site, collecting credit card information through a fraudulent order form
  • A student uses a university network from which to launch denial of service (DOS) attacks against a company, shutting down its external Internet capability.
The AIT (http://ait.com) Firewall gives both fully-managed and self-managed dedicated server customers industrial-grade policy enforcement, multi-vector attack protection, and secure connectivity in a single product.  The hardware works for businesses ranging from the small office / home office environment to the enterprise setting.  “A lot of companies have the ‘it won’t happen to me’ attitude, until it happens to them or to one of their vendors or partners,” said Clarence Briggs, Chief Executive Officer at AIT.  “The use of malicious software is not confined to large corporations; any organization with people and data is a target.”
With this hardware, multiple existing firewalls can be consolidated onto a single appliance which can then be configured for multiple virtual firewalls.  The hardware also provides for:
  • Wide-range of perimeter network security services to prevent unauthorized network access
  • Powerful inspection firewall services which track the state of all network communications
  • Flexible access-control capabilities for more than 100 predefined applications, services, and protocols, with the ability to define custom applications and services
  • Simplified management with the ability to create re-usable network and service object groups that can be referenced by multiple security policies
A recent study by a Boston-based research firm had sobering news for consumers, with the very industries most likely to be targeted – financial services, retail, and insurance – having the worst data security.  “A firewall is only as good as the rest of a particular company’s security policies; particularly sensitive data should probably be isolated from the rest of the network anyway,” said Briggs.  “Still, a firewall is your best defense at keeping outside forces from coming in uninvited.”
