You need to get some work done and, like most people, depend on the Internet for at least part of the day. So do a host of other folks, but their reasons are much different:
- A hacker gets root access on a company’s web server and redirects client traffic to a mock site, collecting credit card information through a fraudulent order form
- A student uses a university network from which to launch denial of service (DOS) attacks against a company, shutting down its external Internet capability.
