Spymac Expands Web Hosting Plans

00:00:00 - 24 August 2004

NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2004 -- Spymac Network Inc., which provides paid and free Internet services to nearly one million members, announced today that it will introduce its award-winning Wheel online service to the France market at Apple Expo 2004 in Paris on Aug. 31. Spymac has partnered with Apacabar, the largest Apple distributor in the region, to deliver the new French version of Wheel to retail shelves across the country.

Wheel includes MailPro, the Internet's first premium 3GB e-mail account (with POP3, IMAP and Web-mail access), iCal and Web page hosting, and a growing suite of applications and online services designed to harness the convenience of the Internet. Wheel is produced in-house by some of the industry's leading developers, and ships on a single hybrid CD that works on both Mac OS X and Windows XP operating systems. It debuted in July at Macworld Conference & Expo in Boston, where it won a MacMinute Showtime Award.

"We're excited to be working with Apacabar to bring Wheel, and other best-selling Spymac products, to leading outlets throughout France," said Holger Ehlis, Spymac's CEO. "Other regionalized versions of Wheel are currently under development and will be released later this year."

At Apple Expo Paris, Spymac's entire product line (from designer desks and PowerBook cases, to Power Mac G5-matching aluminum accessories) will be on display and available for purchase at Apacabar's booth (A83). What's more, Spymac staff will be giving scheduled Wheel presentations each day of the Expo, which runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4. Visitors will have a chance to get tips and answers from Wheel developers.

Developing Wheel

Wheel was developed by Spymac's team of established programmers, who are all recognized experts in their field. Leading the team are Donald Brown and Alexander von Below. Brown is a founding partner of CE Software Inc., and was instrumental in creating such legendary applications as QuicKeys and QuickMail.

Alexander von Below holds an advanced degree in computer science from the Aachen Institute of Technology (RWTH) and started developing software on the original Mac OS. He has worked for Silicon Graphics Inc., and spent more than ten years developing Macintosh- and Windows-based software for Roxio Inc.
