The Ontario Global Traders Awards have issued the
bronze award for Innovation and the silver award for Market Expansion -
Service, to web hosting company, Hostopia.
The awards were presented on April 2, 2006 at the 8th Annual Ontario Global Traders Central Ontario Awards ceremony.
Bill Campbell, CEO of Hostopia commented, ''We’re very proud to be
recognized for our achievements in innovation and market expansion. To
receive two prestigious awards on the same day is a great honour.''
Market Expansion and Innovation awards are open to Ontario-based,
small-to-medium sized enterprises in operation for a minimum of three
fiscal years, with annual sales of up to $100 million, and a maximum of
200 employees. Companies must export to one or more countries and their
export sales must account for at least 15 percent of total sales.
Once nominated companies like Hostopia are evaluated by independent
regional judging panels which include leaders from business, education,
and economic development sectors.
Hostopia currently services over 500,000 domain-based customers and
manages over 2 million business-class email accounts. Mr. Campbell
added, ''Hostopia is the world’s fastest growing private-label
wholesale web hosting, email, and online application service provider.
Our success has been greatly influenced by the exceptional economic
environment and business resources Ontario enjoys.''
First introduced in 1998, the Ontario Global Traders Awards (OGTA)
recognizes the outstanding export achievements of the most innovative
and successful small and medium-sized enterprises, leaders, and
students in Ontario.
Now in its eighth year, the reputation of the Awards is growing and
winners are chosen from an increasingly competitive pool of nominees.
An independent interdisciplinary panel of judges is charged with
evaluating nominations in six award categories: Innovation, Market
Expansion Product, Market Expansion Service, Partnership, Student
Achievement, and Leadership.
Nominees initially compete in one of four geographic regions - central,
east, southwest or north. Top winners from each region then advance to
compete for the Provincial Global Traders Awards, presented at a
reception and awards ceremony held in Toronto in May.
The Ontario Global Traders Awards are coordinated by the Trade and
Investment Division of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
