Advanced Web Host The Planet Acquires New Data Center

The Planet, a leading web hosting company, today announced the acquisition of 72,000 sq.ft. of additional datacenter space in Dallas.

The initial phase includes 30,000 sq.ft. of finished Tier 1 datacenter and support space. The company said that the new facility has approximately $14 million in datacenter improvements with future capacity for 36,000 servers. The new facility features N+2 level of redundancy including dual electrical utility feeds from separate TXU substations, one 2-megawatt diesel generator, parallel redundant 750KVA MGE UPS and dual 550 ton carrier chillers.

"We are pleased to have the space, bandwidth, and power to meet the increasing demand for The Planet's offerings," said Steve Wallace, Vice President of Operations. "The additional datacenter space will allow The Planet to offer our customers the ability to scale with us as their businesses grow."
