Rackspace Managed Hosting to Open Austin Sales Office

Fast-Growing Hosting Specialist Taps Austin Market to Help Fill Up to 300 Texas-based Jobs in 2006

Rackspace Managed Hosting today announced it will open a sales office in Austin, just 75 miles north of the company’s San Antonio headquarters.  The fast-growing managed hosting specialist targeted Austin for its new sales location as a result of the city’s deep pool of technical expertise and close proximity to the company’s headquarters.

Rackspace announced in January that the company plans to hire up to 300 new Texas employees in 2006. The company will open its Austin sales office in the spring with at least 10 new salespeople on site, growing to nearly 50 Austin-based salespeople by the end of this year.  Rackspace’s Austin office will be located on Bee Caves Road. 

“Rackspace is growing more than 50 percent each year, and to accommodate our continuous growth, we must tap the talent pools of additional markets – Austin in particular.  The city has a lot to offer including an abundance of highly-skilled technical workers and a nearby location to our hometown of San Antonio,” said Glenn Reinus, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales, Rackspace Managed Hosting.  “Austin will make a great addition to our worldwide offices, but Rackspace’s headquarters will remain in San Antonio where all of our new Austin employees will come to train and absorb the company’s unique, customer support-driven culture.”

Rackspace was recently ranked 16th on the “Top 50 Best Places to Work in Texas” list by Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business and The Society for Human Resource Management - Texas State Council.  Rackspace is the only managed hosting company to be featured on the list and the top-ranked company headquartered in San Antonio.
