Digital River, Inc. (www.digitalriver.com), a provider in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced that it signed an expanded e-commerce agreement with Trend Micro, Inc. (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a global leader in antivirus and content security. Based on the agreement, Digital River built and launched a fully localized e-commerce site to support Trend Micro’s online sales operations in Japan.

In addition to handling Trend Micro’s expanded Japanese site, Digital River will continue to host Trend Micro’s existing North American and European online stores as well as merchandise and deliver Trend Micro’s software titles into its e-commerce network of more than 600 online retailers.

“By leveraging ten years of e-commerce expertise, we can effectively expand our relationships with our clients while helping them build out their e-commerce initiatives in global markets,” said Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO.

“Trend Micro’s Japanese online store utilizes some of our key global capabilities, including Asian double-byte characters, and currencies and numeric values. Along with our local partners, we continue to work diligently to offer a comprehensive solution for companies interested in further developing online businesses in the Japanese market.”

Digital River built Trend Micro’s Japanese e-commerce site, accessible via http://www.trendmicro.com or http://shop.trendmicro.co.jp, to meet key localization and cultural requirements important to Japanese consumers as well as small and medium business users. The online stores feature Japanese versions of some of Trend Micro’s leading software titles, including Trend Micro Virus Buster 2005, among others.

“Since we began working with Digital River more than four years ago, the company has helped us realize our rigorous growth goals for our online business,” said Lane Bess, executive segment general manager for consumer/ SOHO and president of North America operations for Trend Micro.
