Web Hosting Company HostColor Adds Image Gallery

In a drive to add more capability to its hosting packages Host Color LLC has added new gallery script to hosting plans. It is available as a part of its Max and Mega packages.

"When working with hosting customers you quickly understand what most people find hard in Unix hosting. If they want to install an open-source application for example there are several things which even expert IT users may not be familiar with. The database set up is one of them. Or uploading the correct files in the correct directory with the correct permissions. Now we have taken all this extra work out of installing the new PHP Gallery. Our users are able to set up their gallery and upload their images with a simple one-page setup." says Venelin Mihaylov, Host Color's chief software developer.

The open source Gallery script that Host Color has chosen features multiple options and advanced controls over image albums . The Gallery works with a MySQL backend.

Open source software and the ideas that it brings are meant to empower the users. And generally they do ; there is a significant gap however between the technical knowledge that most users have and the expertise that is required to use open source solutions.
