Microsoft Corp. today named Lisa Brummel, a 15-year veteran of the company who has led the Home & Retail Division for the past 10 years, as corporate vice president for Human Resources.

"I'm excited that Lisa will be joining with our exceptional team of human resource leaders to continue to build a world-class HR function, which is so critical to the future of our company," said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer at Microsoft.

Brummel, 45, joined Microsoft in 1989 and has held a number of management positions, including general manager of Microsoft's Consumer Productivity business, product unit manager of Microsoft's Kids business, and product unit manager of Desktop and Decision reference products.

"I know firsthand how important human resources are to every facet of Microsoft's business, and I'm looking forward to working with the entire HR team to ensure that our HR vision gets implemented in a way that addresses the needs of our business groups and field professionals." Brummel said.

Brummel replaces Ken DiPietro, who served as corporate vice president for Human Resources for the past two years.

Brummel holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Yale University.
