Sun Microsystems, Inc. (www. sun.com), announced it will join Bono to electronically enlist legions of Americans into the ONE Campaign, a non-profit initiative launched by the singer and social activist to raise the voices of citizens to combat AIDS and poverty in Africa.

"The TED Prize is a remarkable award that gives ordinary people the opportunity to join in extraordinary endeavors," said John Gage, chief researcher at Sun Microsystems.

In March 2005, Sun Microsystems' will power up a system to "elist" names for the One Campaign using a creative combination of Java technology, java.com site participation and technologies from Voxiva.

The ONE campaign is a new effort by Americans to rally Americans -- ONE by ONE -- to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty.

The ONE Campaign is engaging Americans through a diverse coalition of faith-based and anti-poverty organizers to show the steps people can take to fight global AIDS and poverty.
