Petris Joins BEA Partner Program

Petris plans to utilize BEA's WebLogic Platform to develop an energy industry intranet portal, which will be designed to be used as an optional add-on to the company's PetrisWINDS™ Enterprise platform to help provide customers a single point of access to data assets and collaboration tools.

Utilizing BEA's WebLogic Portal, the PetrisWINDS Enterprise system will be targeted at the energy industry, and is designed to be a fully-featured, vendor neutral portal product for complete management of structured and unstructured data assets, without data loss and with full workflow detailing. Petris will leverage the leading edge BEA WebLogic Platform, which simultaneously enhances functionality while helping to improve quality through a suite of integrated tools and application infrastructure.

While PetrisWINDS Enterprise today federates disparate corporate data stores the addition of the BEA WebLogic Platform is designed to allow the federation of multiple portal initiatives across the enterprise. This can bring work-centered data management capabilities and information collaboration together in ‘one place', helping provide the ability to clearly document the change and decision process for data within the enterprise.

A unique data capture functionality utilizing the portal is designed to allow valuable information scattered on desk tops across the organization to be added to managed data stores and loaded into designated PetrisWINDS Enterprise accessible applications. This can help reduce the challenge of managing personal storage space while still permitting the original owners to retrieve their information.
The BEA Weblogic Platform can also provide the ability to help integrate a growing number of web applications, helping to further reduce the number of ‘places' that users must go to do their work.

The portal supports news feeds and threaded discussion forums, as well as personalized notification about data availability and quality. For global corporations, the Weblogic Platform Portal's functionality helps provide for ‘language of choice' as a user preference. WebLogic Platform internationalization tools are based on W3C standards that are designed to be usable worldwide in all languages and writing systems.

To provide simple yet secure access, both the Weblogic Platform and the PetrisWINDS Enterprise systems are designed to support Single Sign On (SSO) capability to protect information and streamline user adherence to good security practices.
