-- IBM (www.ibm.com) and Dassault Systemes (www.3ds.com) today announced
a specialized product lifecycle management (PLM) Industry Solution for
Electronics manufacturers designed to help them better manage the growing
complexity of electronic product development. "Collaborative Systems
Engineering for Electronics" (CSE-E) is a strategic solution enabling
companies to drive their product development process from needs identification
to final product qualification and delivery.
CSE-E is based on SMARTEAM, an industry-leading collaborative product
data and lifecycle management solution, and DS PLM Practices developed
by Dassault Systemes.
"Rapid innovation and collaborative development are critical to success
in the electronics industry, particularly in fast-moving consumer segments
such as ours," said Riger Font, CEO, Fontini Electrical Appliances,
based in Spain.
The solution optimizes
the early definition stages of product development when companies establish
the requirements, functions and systems architecture of a new product,
and generally commit to up to 80% of its cost. CSE-E also shortens time-to-market
by facilitating design reuse from the earliest stages of the development
process, and reduces the costs and risks associated with the launch of
a new product.
