IDT Network Search Engine Delivers Services To Fujitsu
HostReview.com
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--July 6, 2004--IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.)(Nasdaq:IDTI), a leading communications IC company and the leading provider of network search engines (NSEs), today announced that Fujitsu Limited has selected its IDT 75K62134 NSE to enable the delivery of advanced network services, including security, content load balancing and quality of service (QoS) within its enterprise-level IPCOM S2200 network server. The IDT 75K62134 NSE offers the industry's first fully integrated Network Processor Forum (NPF) Look-Aside (LA-1) interface that glue-lessly connects to the network processing unit (NPU) and is included within the Intel reference design platform. Delivering performance up to 100 million searches per second (MSPS), the IDT NSE offloads the compute-intensive classification task from the NPU, accelerating packet processing and enabling Fujitsu's IPCOM S2200 to perform a breadth of value-added services. The Fujitsu IPCOM S2200 is a highly integrated networking product that incorporates security functions such as firewall and secure socket layer (SSL), and the prioritization and provisioning of bandwidth via QoS and load balancing within a single box. Several innovative features of the IDT NSE enable high-performance table look-ups while using the LA-1 interface to transact search operations. The IDT multi-database lookup (MDL) feature allows the user to issue a search in up to eight databases that represent tables for different applications. Users can then issue a single MDL operation and search within multiple databases in a sequential pipeline using variations of the same key, resulting in reduced implementation complexity and latency reduction of up to 80 percent or more, as well as improved NSE search performance capabilities. "We chose the IDT NSE for our IPCOM S2200 network server, as it offered innovative features such as the MDL command that enabled us to optimize bandwidth throughput across the LA-1 interface of the NSE. IDT also provided a system-level architecture model (SLAM) that gave us extensive modeling capabilities and offered great technical support on our high-end modeling requirements," said Masao Gouhara, director, IP Network Division, Fujitsu Limited. "We are proud to have incorporated the industry's first glue-less LA-1 NSE solution in our highly integrated networking box and look forward to our continued relationship with IDT." "Fujitsu Limited is recognized as a leading provider of communications solutions for the global marketplace and an innovator in providing highly reliable network environments that connect the network and systems within the IT infrastructure," said Wataru Kamiyama, president, Nippon IDT KK. "IDT is committed to this partnership and is excited to be included in Fujitsu's ambitious IPCOM S2200 product that integrates so many value-added functions at the enterprise edge." IDT IP Co-Processor Solutions IDT provides
a comprehensive family of IP co-processor solutions, including industry-leading
NSEs and content inspection engines (CIEs) that accelerate packet processing
and enable intelligent application management in next-generation networking
equipment. IDT is recognized by RHK, Inc. and IDC as the technology leader,
and as the volume shipment leader of NSEs. IDT offers the industry's highest-performance
NSE operating up to 250 MHz, and was the first vendor to introduce an
NSE with an integrated LA-1 interface. The IDT NSE portfolio includes
a family of custom devices, as well as families of NSEs with high-performance
interfaces for ASICs, and glue-less interfaces to leading network processors,
to accelerate packet classification and forwarding in core, metro and
access networks. The IDT 75K62100 NSE received the EDN Top 100 Products
Award of 2002 and the 75K72100 NSE operating at 250 MSPS received the
same honor from EDN in 2003. The IDT CIEs are capable of parsing and classifying
data up to Layer 7, and are optimized for packet classification and content
inspection in security and content-aware networking applications. IDT
serves as chairman of the board of the Network Processing Forum (www.npforum.org)
and is an Associate Member of the Intel(R) Communications Alliance (www.intel.com/go/ica).
