The comprehensive security solution is aimed to protect against the increasingly prevalent security and fraud attack known as phishing. The core of the VeriSign's Anti-Phishing Solution is to protect enterprises through a five-tiered solution that helps prevent, detect and respond to attacks.

The VerySign Solution is comprised of the following five elements: Prevention, Detection, Response – providing 24x7 support to take action against phishing attacks, Forensics - sophisticated analysis and identification techniques to assess and mitigate the damage caused by phishing attacks, Reporting - arming enterprises with the knowledge to adjust their prevention measures in preparation for future phishing attacks.

Phishing attacks generally use social engineering tactics to convince consumers to submit sensitive information. This information may include account numbers, passwords or social security numbers, which the user is invited to resubmit on a given e-mail or web address. The fishing sites are actually clever forgeries run by hackers or criminal organizations.

According to the report, over the last year, phishing attacks targeted 57 million Internet users or on average, three to five percent of all individuals who received a phishing e-mail fall victim to the fraud.

Preventing such attacks is regarded as extremely difficult because it requires the ability to monitor activity within an enterprise's IT environment and even to monitor activity across the Internet as a whole.
