SANTA CLARA, CA and PARIS — May 12, 2004 — SANTA CLARA, Calif. and HELSINKI, Finland – June 22, 2004 – Speedera Networks Inc., a leading global provider of on-demand distributed application and content delivery services, today announced that F-Secure Corporation (HEX: FSC), one of the world's leading providers of centrally managed security solutions, has selected Speedera's Traffic Balancer service to ensure global load balancing between its multiple data centers in Europe and North America. The move eliminates the need for F-Secure to buy and manage its own load balancing hardware, while providing greatly increased robustness for its download distribution system for updating its customers' software.

F-Secure has for ten years continuously provided content security services to roughly 50 million users worldwide, and it's Web site serves almost one million visitors every month. Its customers include many of the world's largest industrial corporations and best-known telecommunications companies; governments, post offices and defense forces; and some of the world's largest banks. F-Secure is widely acknowledged for stopping the SoBig.F virus. With the exponential growth and complexity in Internet security threats, the company required a reliable and massively scalable means to deliver software updates, particularly when millions of users try to update their security software when a new virus strikes.

“Reliability and speed of updates are the most important factor when it comes to security,” said Ari Hypponen, F-Secure's Chief Technology Officer. “We believe in working with leading partners like Speedera who can add value by providing a reliable, robust, on-demand globally distributed network and thus enable us to focus on our core business of bringing to the market the best anti-virus protection possible. Our customers demand reliable and immediate control over threats like the SoBig.F virus. Speedera shares our customer-centric vision of meeting the IT needs of our customers.”

Speedera's Traffic Balancer service provides global load balancing for distributed Web sites with two or more origin sites. It intelligently routes client requests to the fastest available origin site, bypassing overloaded or failed sites to overcome network congestion and site outages, thus maximizing performance and availability.

With a dedicated worldwide network of strategically located global traffic managers and network probes, Speedera's Traffic Balancer makes its routing decisions based on configurable policies and real-time network, server, and application health criteria such as network latency, link-to-link outages, packet loss, CPU utilitization, and others. In the case of F-Secure's system, Speedera's service also utilizes application server management data extracted from F-Secure's download system, to optimize load balancing decisions. In the event of an origin site failure, Traffic Balancer ensures that traffic “fails over” gracefully to the remaining origin sites without overloading them.

“F-Secure clearly understands how to work with Speedera to provide anti-virus security solutions second to none,” said Ajit Gupta, President and CEO of Speedera Networks. “When a virus hits, the cost of even one hour of downtime can be enormous – time and money that no business or individual can afford. The combination of F-Secure and Speedera's forces will bring one of the world's leading security solutions to an ever-growing audience of computer users everywhere.”
