HostReview.com
Cambridge, MA and Novato, CA — April 26, 2004 — Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in distributed computing solutions and services, and Scene7, Inc., the leading provider of dynamic visual media software, announced today that the companies are now offering a unique imaging solution, Dynamic Imaging On Demand™ (DIOD). This solution combines Scene7’s Infinite Imaging™ Platform with the Akamai EdgePlatformSM to provide visual rich media capabilities on Akamai's globally distributed network of over 14,000 servers. DIOD can increase web revenues with dramatically enhanced visual merchandising, while offering clients an “instant on” hosted solution to streamline web image publishing and minimize upfront capital and resource investment. DIOD “dynamically” generates unlimited product image variations from a single master photograph – while also enhancing the customer experience with features like zoom, 360 spin, texture rendering, compositing, graphic templating and network editing. Clients access Scene7’s hosted, browser-based image production and publishing environment to automate image organization, preparation and publishing to websites. Published content is then served via Akamai’s EdgePlatform – which ensures world-class scalability, reliability and performance. “Combining robust content transformation with an on demand delivery platform enables customers to offer a dynamic means of enhancing the online commerce experience,” said Robert Hughes, vice president of Global Sales and Services at Akamai. “When online retailers, for example, tap into Akamai’s on-demand computing infrastructure in support of their commerce applications, results have shown measurable increases to conversion rates. Akamai and Scene7 customers will be able to quickly achieve a positive return on investment as this turnkey solution requires no investment in hardware or software, and no IT resources to get started.” Leading retailers and manufacturers are now taking advantage of the DIOD solution, including New Balance Athletic Shoe, The Bombay Company, Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft, Coldwater Creek, Jostens, and more. “We are thrilled to be working with Akamai to deliver our hosted solution for dynamic imaging,” said Douglas Mack, CEO Scene7. “Akamai is the clear leader in distributed content and applications delivery — making the value of our dynamic imaging solution even more attainable and scalable for a wide range of companies and industries. We look forward to our continued joint development, marketing and sales activities to deliver additional industry-leading, rich-featured solutions.” Akamai and Scene7 are actively engaged in co-marketing and co-selling activities, including joint telemarketing, customer events, field education and account planning, and other lead generation programs. Both companies have successfully marketed and cross-sold the rich feature set represented by the Dynamic Imaging On Demand solution. About Scene7
