mobility solutions connect doctors to patient information, and industry
veterans to Academy Awards celebration

PALO ALTO,
Calif., Feb. 27, 2004 - HP
today extended its relationship with the Motion Picture & Television
Fund (MPTF), which includes support for the service organization's medical
campuses in Southern California, the "Second Annual Night Before"
Academy Awards benefit, and the MPTF technology labs for its senior residents.
MPTF is a
nonprofit organization for the entertainment community that provides care
for the very young to the elderly, including quality medical and surgical
services, health care, childcare, residential living and care for older
adults, as well as social and charitable services.
"HP
is a leader in the technology field by delivering truly creative solutions
ahead of the curve, and its willingness to give back to the entertainment
community by participating so actively in the MPTF is one more way in
which the company distinguishes itself," said Jeffrey Katzenberg,
chairman, MPTF Foundation, and principal partner, DreamWorks SKG.
"As
we deliver world-class solutions for a broad range of businesses in entertainment,
our partnership with MPTF allows us to extend the same innovation and
dedication to the individuals who have made and are continuing to make
the industry what it is today," said Carly Fiorina, HP chairman and
chief executive officer. "HP will continue to look for opportunities
to support the spirit of innovation where it lives, and the MPTF services
are a wonderful example of that spirit."
To enhance
the speed and quality of healthcare services, HP has rolled out a comprehensive
mobility solution for MPTF's five medical facilities in Southern California,
building on a technology initiative that began a year ago. The HP mobility
technology environment gives MPTF care providers instant access to accurate
information throughout its five medical campuses, as well as in patient
rooms. The comprehensive solution provides physicians and healthcare professionals
at the MPTF with the information when they need it and where they need
it, thereby enhancing the quality of MPTF healthcare services to thousands
of patients each year.
More than
80 HP Tablet PCs and a supporting wireless infrastructure now connect
doctors and other MPTF healthcare professionals to critical information,
including patient history, out-patient information, and billing and account
information. When fully implemented, patients can visit any of the five
locations and their records are immediately available. Some 40 physicians
can retrieve patient records to decipher lab results, X-rays, and other
important clinical information in an electronic format, facilitating faster
and more reliable transfer of patient information and communication between
the doctor and patient, as well as standardizing medical and administrative
processes.
To connect
celebrities of today and yesterday, HP will again this year provide Tablet
PCs for the "Second Annual Night Before," a star-studded pre-Academy
Awards event benefiting the MPTF, on Saturday, Feb. 28. HP technology
will connect generations of the entertainment family, enabling guests
at the benefit to send personalized e-mail and digital images to the motion
picture and television industry members of yesteryear who reside at the
MPTF hospital and retirement communities. Residents view e-mails at their
annual Oscar® get-together on Sunday.
To promote
seniors using technology to stay in touch with loved ones, HP also has
continued technology and service donations to each of the retirement communities
and hospital on MPTF's Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, Calif. The
HP-based equipment includes desktop PCs, monitors and printers and is
available to all residents, enabling industry retirees to connect with
friends and family through products that people of all ages can use easily.
HP has previously donated HP Pavilion desktop PCs and other technology
to the MPTF campus, supporting efforts to connect people of all ages together
with technology.
HP technology
continues to extend the boundaries of creativity to play a critical role
in filmmaking, visual effects and rich digital media. From technology
infrastructure to digital imaging and editing and consumer devices, HP's
world-class technology promotes invention. As a leader in both IT for
businesses, through its Adaptive Enterprise strategy, and consumer products,
HP is in a unique position to help entertainment companies and consumers
harness the "power of digital" to securely manage the flow of
content from creation to consumption.
