IRVINE, Calif., February 24, 2004 – VitalStream®, Inc. (OTC: VSTH), a global provider of integrated content delivery services, and RouteScience, the leading provider of adaptive networking software (ANS), announced that VitalStream selected RouteScience® ANS to optimize the performance of the award-winning VitalStream content delivery network.

"VitalStream's content delivery network has already received top marks in tests conducted by Keynote using Keynote Streaming Perspective for its ability to stream media in the United States and internationally using our Streaming Perspective® measurement service," said Shai Berger, general manager for streaming, at Keynote Systems, Inc. "This announcement further underscores VitalStream's commitment to provide its customers a highly efficient network to deliver their media faster with less buffering time."

"Since VitalStream implemented RouteScience ANS we have seen up to a 300% increase in overall average network performance for our customers' streams and websites based on monitoring and metric reports from the RouteScience software," said Steve Smith, chief technical officer of VitalStream, Inc. "RouteScience ANS is well-suited for VitalStream's multi-carrier network because it gives us the ability to proactively route traffic to the best performing network, at any given time, in real-time."

"Network uptime and performance are the top considerations for businesses seeking content delivery and streaming media services," said Paul Summers, president and chief executive officer of VitalStream, Inc. "At VitalStream, we understand this customer need and are continually optimizing our award-winning network with new technologies and increased capacity."

RouteScience ANS monitors, assesses, and adjusts the network delivery infrastructure to assure applications availability and performance. The software monitors and assesses end-to-end performance using application-specific models, including one designed especially for multimedia applications. RouteScience ANS then optimizes performance by adjusting traffic paths in real time.

"VitalStream's multi-carrier network is an ideal fit for RouteScience ANS because it gives our software so many opportunities to find the best performing path for delivering streaming content," said Tim Lee-Thorp, vice president of marketing at RouteScience. "This allows VitalStream to intelligently distribute traffic across all available tier-1 network lines, giving their customers the increased availability and performance they demand."
