Ortega will lead XO’s new carrier sales group, which has been established to strengthen the company’s focus on the carrier services market.

Ortega has nearly two decades of telecommunications experience. Previously vice president of national accounts at XO, Ernie Ortega was responsible for developing and overseeing business strategy for enterprise and wholesale accounts as well as directing all sales force activities. Since joining XO in 1999, Ortega has been a top performing sales executive who is credited with driving revenues to in excess of several hundred million dollars each year for the company. Prior to joining XO, Ernie held several sales management positions with MCI’s southwestern U.S. division.
