ATS and Verio Offer IPv6 Capabilities to Government Customers
HostReview.com
MCLEAN, Va. - January 23, 2004 - Advanced Technology Systems, Inc. (ATS) and Verio, a subsidiary of NTT Communications (NTT Com), today announced the immediate availability of NTT/VERIO Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Gateway Services, the next generation communication protocol for Internet traffic, to federal, state, and local government customers, through the General Services Administration's (GSA) Millennia Lite Contract Vehicle. Additionally, ATS is offering new bundled communications products and services, called ATS PowerHouse Hosting Solutions, providing government clients with one-stop shopping for reliable, cost-effective hosting and managed communications services powered by Verio. NTT/VERIO
IPv6 Gateway Services offer customers enhanced performance, manageability,
scalability and data protection. Additionally, as Internet-enabled mobile
devices and home appliances continue to grow in popularity, IPv6 will
provide a better way to send data over the Internet. Unlike IPv4, IPsec
is an integrated, mandatory part of the basic IPv6 protocol suite, enabling,
among other benefits, end-to-end, secure communications. The IPv6 offering
from ATS and Verio currently delivers service on the NTT/VERIO Global
IPv6 Backbone network to customers in North America, as well as many countries
in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan,
Hong Kong and Australia, as well as in Europe, including Great Britain,
the Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain. NTT Com, which currently provides
IPv6 to approximately 500 customers around the globe, is the only commercial
provider to offer IPv6 with such comprehensive, international coverage.
"ATS
is committed to helping its government customers achieve optimum networking
and technical performance. By teaming with Verio, we are able to deliver
the most reliable and robust international network services and hosting
solutions available in the market today," said Pete Spewak, senior
vice president of Business Development at ATS. "Government customers
can now capitalize on the increased functionality and performance of IPv6,
helping them to realize their business goals more quickly and efficiently.
They can also simplify their infrastructure services procurements and
speed technical deployments with our new ATS PowerHouse Hosting Solutions."
New to the
GSA Millennia Lite government-wide acquisition contract (GWAC), the ATS
PowerHouse Hosting Solutions provide government customers with quick access
to several options for purchasing reliable, bundled Internet services
powered by a wide range of connectivity options on the Verio network.
Nine ATS PowerHouse Hosting Packages, paired with multiple point-to-point
broadband offerings from T-1 thru OC12, give government customers the
flexibility to choose the appropriate Internet access or hosting solution,
along with hardware packages to meet their Internet needs. For example,
one of the entry-level ATS PowerHouse Solutions offers a single server
bundle including a variety of managed services such as security, monitoring,
and storage designed for a small government agency running a Web site
with static content requiring only basic security and storage. On the
other end of the spectrum, a higher end ATS PowerHouse would provide a
multi-server environment coupled with an advanced managed services package,
load balancing for Web servers, and database clustering software for larger
agencies running dynamic-content Web sites with heavy graphics and streaming
media. Additional
services supported through the ATS PowerHouse Hosting Solutions available
through GSA's Millenia Lite contract vehicle include: managed network,
hosting, security, and storage solutions, including Metropolitan Area
Network (MAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) system design, management, and
support; computer systems support administration, and management; production
support; computer equipment maintenance; and facilities planning, management
and operations. About ATS
