NTT Communications Selects Opsware Data Center Automation Software To Automate Hosting Business
HostReview.com
Sunnyvale, CA--January 20th, 2004--Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW), the leading provider of data center automation and utility computing software, today announced a multi-million dollar licensing agreement with NTT Communications (NTT Com), one of the world's largest telecommunications companies and a subsidiary of Tokyo-based NTT Corporation (NYSE: NTT). NTT Com, providing services in more than 50 countries and territories worldwide, has selected Opsware's data center automation software to automate its hosting businesses across North America, Europe and Japan. "NTT Com selected Opsware to automate hosting services to achieve greater efficiencies, be more cost competitive and deliver higher-value services to customers," said Kazu Yozawa, VP IT Management Services Business Division, NTT Com. "Opsware automation will allow us to achieve the highest levels of quality, security and new service capabilities." By using Opsware to automate a broad range of server and application operations, NTT Com will deliver superior service levels, and the highest level of responsiveness and service quality. Opsware gives NTT Com a powerful competitive edge that will greatly differentiate its service offering and enable it to realize a highly efficient operational cost structure. "NTT Com is a global leader in hosting services, and we are honored to have them as our customer," said Ben Horowitz, President and CEO, Opsware Inc. "The world's leading service providers are turning to Opsware's automation software to drive efficiency and reduce costs within the data center. With Opsware automation, NTT Com will provide superior, market-leading hosting services." The agreement with NTT Com is another sign of Opsware's strong commitment to Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Research firm Aberdeen Group cites that IT spending in the Asian Pacific Rim region will grow from $257 billion in 2002 to $330 billion in 2006. In September, Opsware announced a major agreement with NEC Corporation (NASDAQ: NIPNY, FTSE: 6701q.l, TSE: 6701) under which NEC became Opsware's distribution partner in Japan. NEC markets and sells Opsware software and provides maintenance and customer support to Opsware customers in the Japanese market. The growth of the Internet and move to Web-based computing is creating the biggest transformation yet in IT - a shift from client/server computing to low-cost Web-based architectures. With this shift comes a massive explosion of servers and applications in data centers, resulting in massive complexity that renders traditional, manual operations unsustainable. Automation has become a necessity as IT organizations seek to become more cost-competitive, reduce data center complexity and offer higher-value services. About Opsware Inc. |
