MINNEAPOLIS, January 5, 2004-- Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV ), a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced that it signed an e-commerce agreement with Qarbon, a leading developer of Viewlet ® technology and visual e-communications solutions for enterprises. Based on the agreement, Digital River will build and launch an e-commerce site to support the online marketing and sales of Qarbon's family of multimedia authoring tools and software. In addition to hosting and managing the site, Digital River will provide order management, fraud prevention, customer service, e-marketing and digital product fulfillment. Qarbon's e-commerce site, which is scheduled for launch during the month of January, will be located at www.qarbon.com.

“Many companies interested in establishing an online sales channel also find themselves exploring the question of whether they should outsource their e-commerce operations or maintain an in-house solution, ” said Dave Alampi, Digital River's vice president of marketing. “What we can offer Qarbon and other companies electing the outsourcing option is a low-risk, cost-efficient means of establishing and growing an online business. We remove the complexities and resource requirements by supporting our clients with a reliable multi-million dollar e-commerce platform, ten years of e-commerce expertise, an established online marketing program, and an extensive multi-channel e-commerce network.”

Qarbon's new online store will feature the company's line of presentation software and patented Viewlet technology - powerful, Flash enabled, animated presentations that enhance the effectiveness of online marketing, employee training and customer support. Visitors to the site will be able to view and purchase Qarbon's e-communications tools, including ViewletCam™, a recording process that works like a digital camcorder and represents the next generation of screen recording tools pioneered by IBM Lotus ScreenCam™; and the flagship product ViewletBuilder™, a patented screen capture method that works like a digital camera.

“With more than 20 million Viewlets in circulation each month and thousands more created daily, we needed to find a highly scalable e-commerce system that could support our volume while providing a reliable and efficient online shopping and downloading process for our growing customer base, which today includes over half of the Fortune 100,” said Patrick LeGranche, Qarbon's chief executive officer. “Digital River fit the bill. The company's established world-class e-commerce platform and demonstrated expertise managing the online business cycles for thousands of other companies offered us the added value we were looking for in an e-commerce outsourcing partner.”
