Hong Kong - December 22, 2003 - Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) has partnered with VCAST and Equinix to use Equinix's Hong Kong Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centre as one of the distribution points for RTHK's global radio and television webcasts. Under the agreement, VCAST will manage RTHK's strategic network connectivity in Equinix's Hong Kong Internet hub. With direct interconnection to an aggregation of networks participating in Equinix's neutral center, RTHK can enjoy the fastest and highest-performance end-user experience while reducing overall costs and leveraging an environment that affords unlimited scalability.

RTHK is a rapidly growing, Hong Kong based producer of Cantonese, Mandarin and English radio and television programming, including news, financial news and current affairs, that is available live on the Internet, to personal digital assistants (PDAs), and via download. Receiving more than 12 million daily hits on its Web site, RTHK also provides online audio and multimedia archives of programming for the past 12 months.

In order to connect with its growing international audience, RTHK distributes its programming content through a variety of network service providers, however, this process has involved multiple connections to networks spread out over great distances, bringing expensive long-distance transit costs as well as potential performance degradation. By operating within Equinix's Hong Kong IBX centre, RTHK can operate within the same building as its strategic network service provider partners, streamlining the path to end-users and reducing costly intermediate transit.

"With increasingly Internet-connected global audiences, we would like to build our network on a platform that allows high flexibility for our future growth," said Ms. Amy So, Head of New Media, RTHK. "Equinix centres provide us with a multi-network environment with high scalability. And, Equinix's neutral position enables us to directly interconnect with our core network partners, bringing our content much closer to our end-users in China, the U.S., Canada, Australia and other parts of the world."

"With access to every major network service provider, Equinix's centres offer an ideal environment for data intensive business operations, such as RTHK's Internet media offerings," said Philip Koen, head of Asia Pacific for Equinix. "By directly linking with its key network partners within the same facility, RTHK can enhance the performance and speed for the more than 12 million daily hits to its Web site, and also reduce its overall interconnection costs."

VCAST, based in Hong Kong, provides an end-to-end interactive video-broadcasting platform that combines the power of the Internet with rich video content. The company's technology enables the delivery of high-quality video and audio over narrowband or broadband Internet connections for leading businesses, such as RTHK.
